Why can't I use it as a background?

All the pictures that are the type (BMF) or (JPG) can be used as backgrounds but I put together this picture by put 6 or 7 pics together on Powerpoint and saved it as a pic and it turned out to be a type (EMF) and it won't be used as a background. WHY?

That format just isn't supported--save it something that is such as jpg, png, gif, tiff, bmp, etc.

EMF is an Enhanced Windows Metafile. It contains additional image data that can be used by certain programs, but is not a standard format. Standard formats are BMP, JPEG and GIF, although there are other useful formats.

Programs like PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro can be used to convert an EMF to a standard format. I can do it for you if you like.
You can use the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard and then paste the image to paint or photoshop, then cut the edges and save as a JPG.
